One of the central features of the Scriba Bicentennial Celebration that will be held June 15-17, will be the historic displays. These will consist of mounted photographs that cover all aspects on life in Scriba supplemented by items from the past that were commonly used. For example, there will be a big spinning wheel.
The school exhibit will include photos from all 18 of the school districts that existed in the past as well as a desk, school bell, and whipping rod that was used to help maintain order. Several individual slates, and some textbooks will also be part of the display.
One of the main themes for the celebration is a "Salute to Veterans". Photos of veterans from Scriba who served in any war are being solicited so that a Wall of Honor can be created. The photos should be copies and not more than 5 iches by 7 inches. For more information about this project, call Rita Oldenburg at 342-7647.
