Kiwanis Club receive library recognition

Oswego County Weeklies

The Oswego Kiwanis Club recently met with representatives from the  Oswego Public Library to unveil their naming recognition plaque  acknowledging their 2006 pledge to the library “Together with  Pride” Capital Campaign.

The Kiwanis first considered a possible contribution beginning in  2005 and shortly there after formed a library project committee to  consider the impact of this gift on the project and how the Kiwanis  mission to support children could be fulfilled. Members of the  committee were Joe Benzing, Jerry Stanard, Lou Iorizzo, Bob  Harrington, Chris Nelson and Ron Kilbourn. The committee and Club  worked diligently to raise funds for five years to fulfill their  pledge commitment. The gift supported the Media Center in the  Library’s Juanita Kersey Children’s Room, which is used everyday by  area children. It includes numerous computers and a computer  station.

“The involvement of organizations such as the Kiwanis made this  historic building possible,” noted Donna Kuhn Library Board of  Trustees.

The Oswego Kiwanis meet every Thursday at Bridie Manor at 6:30 pm.
