The Hannibal High School District Music Department will present a concert celebrating Music in Our Schools month on Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the high school Lockwood Auditorium. The National Association for Music Education has announced this year’s theme “Music Lasts a Lifetime,” a message important for students to hear as they move away from public school ensembles.
The Senior High Jazz Band will open the program with Tito Puente’s, Oye Como Va, followed by the well -known ballad, If You Don’t Know Me By Now, featuring Mike Miano on alto saxophone.
Choral director, Abel Searor will lead the chorus in a few selections from their recent production of Camelot. In addition they will sing Come Again, Sweet Love by John Dowland. The performance will feature many students in sung and spoken solos.
Beginning with a rousing Sousa march, the senior band under the direction of Shirley Terrinoni, will present a selection of hits from Sweeney Todd, along with well –known swing classics recently re-recorded by Michael Buble. The program will end with the high energy band selection Octane.
