Madri Gras breakfast feast at St. Stephen the King Church Lenten pierogi sales begin

Oswego County Weeklies

Before the Lenten season begins, St. Stephen the King Church, located at 140 Niagara St. in Oswego, will hold it’s “Not So Ordinary Pancake Breakfast Feast,” on Sunday, Feb. 19, following the 9 a.m. Mass, beginning around 9:45 a.m.

This special breakfast will offer much more than the usual pancake breakfast fare. It will include sausage, bacon, homemade homefries, creamed or scrambled eggs, sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, home-made babka and cinnamon rolls. Beverages will include four varieties of juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and milk.

Additionally, orders for Polish pierogi will be taken starting Monday, Feb. 20. The sale will run each Thursday for the six weeks of Lent from Feb. 23 through March 29. Farmer’s cheese, potato and cheddar mix, and cabbage pierogi will be available.

The price has remained the same at $8 per dozen or $15 for two dozen. Varieties can be mixed in an order. Orders will be taken through Tuesday of each week.

Orders can be picked up in the church hall on Thursdays from 2-6 p.m. Call any of the following numbers to place an order: 343-0350, 343-9395 or 343-6378.

Finally, the very popular babka sale will be held for one week only during Holy Week, April 3-5. Polish sweet bread with or without raisins, braided or loaf style will be offered at $5 per loaf.
