The Lutheran-Episcopal Faith Partnership of Oswego and Fulton announce a Blue Christmas Service, on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 7 p.m., at Grace Lutheran Church, 201 E. Sixth St., Oswego. Pastor Richard K. Klafehn is presiding. Fellowship and refreshments will follow.
This service is intentionally scheduled near the winter solstice, the longest night. It is for all who struggle, hurt, and grieve. This may be because of the loss of relationships, jobs, or health or one might be grieving the recent or impending death of loved ones, or some other crisis. In a season of frivolity when so many seem so merry and expectations are so great, people may feel even sadder, more alone, and left out. They may try to hide their hurt. This is an opportunity to be honest about these feelings, to come together, and to share the gentle comfort and promise of God in Christmas.
The other partner churches are Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St., Oswego, and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 64 Gillespie Road, Fulton.
