The New York State Field Band Conference season has commenced as the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers opened the new year at East Syracuse-Minoa.
Oswego, competing in the National Division, scored a season opening 72 to finish behind West Genesee 79.05, Liverpool 77.25 and Cicero-North Syracuse 73.60.
Band director Scott Ciesla said, “This was a good start for us. The judges appreciated our show and realized what we were attempting in the ‘Autumnal Metamorphosis’ theme. We have now started the season and will continue to fine tune the program through the final show at the New York State Championships at the Carrier Dome.”
On Saturday evening, Sept. 24, the Marching Bucs will host the “Pageant of Champions” at Joe Wilber Field in Oswego.
The competition will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Auburn and following the Maroons will be Jordan-Elbridge, East Syracuse-Minoa, and then National Division members West Genesee, Victor, Cicero-North Syracuse, and Liverpool before an exhibition by the Marching Buccaneers.
