The sixth graders of the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School celebrated their final days at the east side school with the annual recognition ceremony.
Principal Donna Simmons told the students to “Dare to Dream”.
She said, “On the first day of school and throughout the school year, I, along with the faculty and staff, delivered yet another very important message to all of you. It was to be respectful, responsible, be a problem solver and to be safe. This is a message that we all hope and dream you take with you for life. It will help you be the best you can be.”
Continuing she said, “It’s also about doing the right thing even when no one is looking. We all need you, the graduating class of 2017, to work together and achieve this goal.”
Simmons encouraged the students and noted, “Don’t be distracted by those who say ‘No’ or those who say ‘it can’t be done’. Your dreams belong to you - make them happen.”
The highlight of the afternoon came as each student received their certificate in recognition of their accomplishments.
