It’s been hard to miss, driving along Route 481 towards Phoenix. The large barn-like structure, overlooking the highway as it went up over the past several months, became the question around town ... what is it?
It is in fact a barn, and according to town officials, is intended to be a home for Clydesdale horses and a new horse-breeding facility. The massive structure is expected to contain stables for the horses and a training area, in addition to lounge and living space to accommodate drivers.
Called K-W Clydes at Riverside ranch, the owner’s initial intention is to breed the horses, raise them, and train them before they are sold. Neighbors have learned that the owners may expand over time and, with success, hopefully consider the possibility of horse-drawn wagon rides and sleigh rides in the future.
For now, it is private property, and although many are curious, having breached the fence line to get a closer look, owners and town officials ask that property limitations be respected.
