The CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County will begin Monday, July 9 and will continue through Friday, Aug. 24.
The Summer Drop-in Recreation Program is offered free of charge to children in grades 2 through 8 in Oswego County and is held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Children enjoy a variety of special events and activities designed to aid them in learning good sportsmanship, how to work as a team, positive interaction with peers and staff, and meeting and making new friends. Plus, each day the youth engage in structured and non-structured activities that will help them grow both physically and mentally. Children may attend the CYO Summer Drop-in recreation Program, daily or weekly if they choose too.
Activities in the CYO Summer Drop-in Program include: daily recreational activities, swimming, special presentations and awareness groups, arts and crafts, and much more. According to CYO Coordinator, Stacie Roberts, the CYO Summer Drop-In Recreation Program will have something for all ages and offers youth a wide variety of recreational and educational activities including: special themed days, and other events including a presentation with live animals from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, tennis instruction, and a summer reading program through the Fulton Public Library. Additionally youth will have access to the CYO game room that includes X-Box, Wii games, billiards, air hockey, basketball, and computer stations, along with other fun activities.
The CYO’s trained staff supervises all activities and assists all participants as needed to ensure that they receive the full benefits of the program as well as help in their physical and emotional development.
Children receive a free lunch daily through the USDA Summer Feeding Program sponsored by Oswego County Opportunities or they can bring their own if they wish to.
The CYO Summer Drop-in Recreation program is funded in part by the United Way of Greater Oswego County, the NYS Office of Children and Families, and the City-County Youth Bureau of Oswego County. For more information on the program contact CYO Coordinator, Stacie Roberts at 598-3980 ext 254.
